Kevin Briggs is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is the
mandolin player in the bluegrass group Mighty Fine. He also sits in with
Dave Lefever's group The Cultivators, is a member of the Lancaster
Mandolin Trio, featuring Jeff Bryson, and frequently plays at the
bluegrass and old time jam at the White Oak Campground in Strasburg,
PA. In recent years, Kevin was the mandolinist in the Lancaster based alt.
country group Slimfit, and the Erie, PA based bluegrass group Tom's
Kitchen Band, the first group to ever play the Mayville Bluegrass
Festival.
Kevin has been playing Weber mandolins for the past four years. His first
Weber was a 2004 custom Bitterroot that he and Paula Jean Lewis
designed. After a few years, he then traded in the Bitterroot to order a
custom Weber Fern through Dennis Vance at The Mandolin Store. He now
plays his 2008 custom Fern that John, Rick, Mary, and Bruce all helped
design. Kevin says he loves the deep, throaty chop and the beautiful,
sweet, round tones that jump from the body of his Fern. Tonally and
visually it is a work of art, and it rightfully deserves its spot amongst
the best mandolins being made anywhere in the world.
Kevin is known as The Briggadier to some, and posts frequently on the
Mandolin Cafe. He also looks forward to joining the Pittsburgh Mandolin
Orchestra sometime this year, and really giving his custom Weber Fern an
opportunity to shine.

Aside from playing the mandolin, Kevin loves spending time with his wife,
daughter, and son. During the daytime hours, he can be found teaching
English to the youngsters of the School District of Lancaster.
